Tut mir Leid Micha :/

Am Ende P16 nicht ganz verdient.

  • Apologies to Jake and everyone else involved in that last wreck. I was so busy getting lined up right behind Daniel and pushing him, that I noticed Jake creeping up I the middle there just a fraction too late... :(.

As far as the race I don't know how long the car has this draft model, but it's a blast. I thought we'd still have the old 'side draft is faster' model.

Near the end I tried pushing Daniel as much as I could, but I had to lift a few times to be sure I wouldn't push him in the wrong spot and wrecking us both. Also I think the 3rd car in line couldn't keep up as much as we needed to generate the energy to get passed Ian. But definitely a very enjoyable race!

Dann nimm bitte n Kabel. Es ist nach wie vor stö(h)rend.

  • Not sure what happened in the beginning, Marvin. I get your disappointment. I am too because I didn't want it to happen. My strategy was to save drive with the rest and maintain my position. Jeroen was hard to follow as he was moving between the middle and the top lane. It was very apparent in T3, but also in the tri-oval at times.

At some point, I touched Jeroen on the left corner because he was halfway on the top (3rd) lane and suddenly slowed down more than expected.

I guess my wreck at the end was karma. ;) Johannes and Sven touched on the back straight. Johannes wanted to let Sven back on the track and slowed down. Unfortunately for me, that was right in front of me and could not go anywhere. The grass is not a great place to be in iRacing. ⛸ I am not going to report that (as it didn't cause a yellow). I was at the wrong place at the wrong time. On to the next one.

  • Had a couple of computer issues near the start putting me a lap down. Got the wave then just as I was about to pit to top off someone must have come out of the pits and it gave me the Let X by too late for me to avoid pitting and getting a stop/go. Had fun later on working the traffic in the aid of a few others so still enjoyed it.

    Clean Windows install inbound.

Thanks Doug for the push. :)

Also hab ich etwas später gebremst :D

  • Netter Saisonstart :) Hatte gestern alles dabei.

  • Quite an eventful race. Though that I'd thrown it away twice. First time when something happened early on between front two cars, I panicked and went to the apron, went to the back and lost the draft. Fortunately the caution came out. Second time on pitting I didn't get in my pit box correctly and ended up at the back again. Also mounted Carsten 9I think?) when a checkup caught me off guard, which gave me some damage. Lost my buddy Jake on the last green stop, but manage to work with Daniel to get to the front. Thanks to Markus for the push at the end, you timed it perfectly!

Not been keeping up with iracing news, so I don't know what's changed, but the draft model felt good.

One thing I would say though. If you are leading the outside lane, try and keep tighter to the inside lane. Running high makes it hard to follow and opens the middle up to opportunists. Not so much a problem in the early phases of a race, when people are happy to ride. But later on, people are gonna put you three wide.

To reply to both you and Niel, I understand what you are saying, but I'm not sure if I agree. The way I understand how this sidedraft works you want to be tight when you are behind so you can pull the inside line back, but a bit higher when you are in front or have the momentum so you don't get pulled back.

Now this is mostly based on what I've read on how the draft in the A car works (or should work), but it seems to have some similarities. The only thing I noticed near the end is that the middle line seems less of a 'sucker hole' then maybe it should be.

I'm not saying I figured it out completely, but at least this is why I was trying stuff earlier in the race and it did seem to work, creating great runs on the outside. So I can't blame Daniel for trying the same.

  • It makes sense what you were trying to do, but I wished I knew at that time. I was wondering why you were going so high. I wanted to stay in my lane as much as possible to avoid any confusion for the cars behind me.

Though, I don't remember any changes to the draft for the B and C cars.

Weißt du, was mich am meisten ärgert?
