After 60 laps I really wanted to pit. I was still catching up to the pacecar and was not sure if I was allowed to enter pitroad, or that the pacecar was close behind me which could have triggered the pit open message.
The second time around I couldn't pit anymore and there I was with 60 laps old tires...

This my second Phoenix race in a row that I finish with a meatball flag...
Happy to hold on to 5th.
Coming into this session I was not expecting to be able to make my tires last for a full tank. NIS on wednesday was rough for me.
In the end I didn't, but atleast I just about managed it correctly.
Sorry Jakub for lap 110. Did not mean to run into you.
Track wasn't made very wide by the car on my left side, but I should have braked a bit earlier.
Congrats Bruno. -
I feel strange racing in VO since I had to take those forced holidays because my pedals broke. Ever since I came back, everything seems to happen to me…
Today, for example, I had to lap the same driver twice. With 15 laps down he spun me in the middle of the straight when I was running P7 with 62 laps on my tires, which were still at 60%. After that crash I dropped to P29, and with a lot of suffering and effort I managed to fight my way back up to 2nd place again. I decided to save my tires instead of attacking Bruno, in case we got a green-flag stint so I could attack him at the end of the race.
But then a driver shows up pushing at 120% of his possibilities while another one is saving tires, and his first move is to open up in turns 1/2 until he touches me and forces me to open the steering so I don’t end up out of the race or in the wall. That wasn’t enough—into T3, without even being side by side, he spins me and completely destroys my tires…
I accept your great apology: “sorry.” We can all make mistakes… xD

I was that driver 15 laps down. I was on fresher tires and tried to unlap myself, although I was trying to be as cautious as possible when doing so towards other drivers.
From inside my cockpit it seemed you were trying to race me whilst on older tires and slower (didn't understand the purpose of that) and you drove into my side twice which eventually spun you out.
Now when I saw it from the replay it looked more like each of us gently steered towards each other. I stayed in my lane although it seems I went ever so slightly to the left and you slightly towards me.
In any case it was by far my intention to hit anyone so if you do feel it was my mistake I'm not too shabby to give you my apologies for that. -
an ok Q and a p9 at the end. i take it.
to my surprise i was able to handle my tires very well with keeping some speed as some big names had meatballs.
i think the cautions helped me with the timing.

1st: According to the championship rules, you didn’t have the right to attempt the overtake because at the acceleration point of the corner you weren’t alongside me. Having new tyres doesn’t give you the right to overtake me there, and that’s why we made contact.
2nd: On the straight I keep the car straight after we touch. You’re the one who moves up the line, and with a slight contact on the straight you turn my car enough for it to snap to the other side. My tyres having 62 laps on them also played a part… With new tyres I probably would have been able to control it.

Kein Plan was gestern los war.
Nundenn gings also von P23 ins Rennen.

It wasn’t just about shifting down to 3rd, there are many more factors...
For example, braking quite late so the car rotates, stretching the braking phase a lot with very little brake pressure so you don’t put all the weight on the front right tire, trying to stay in 4th gear as much as possible, and rotating the car with the throttle rather than with the steering wheel.
3rd gear worked well when the car was already coming out of the corner very slow.
You can apply the same approach to every circuit; it’s rare that it doesn’t work at some track. 🏁

Later braking? Had the feeling as later as I was braking, the car wouldn't turn but going straight.

Sorry, the translator didn’t do a good job. I meant the brake bias — having it set toward the rear. For example, I was running the brake bias between 41% and 43%.

Doch das get.
