2024-11-24 Class A #16 Pocono Raceway

  • ups and downs...

  • Two races for the price of one. And I got a lot of use out of an otherwise much ignored clutch pedal.

I pitted just before the long green run, with the plan to fuelsave.
I did not have enough draft for that to work out perfectly. Had to do a lot of saving while on my own. Needed a few more around me to do that.
One of the drivers helping me out spun himself into the pitwall soon after I had gotten behind them.
I feel I could have stayed ahead of the leaders if only a few more would be around me for longer. But that is how those gambles go. No regrets :).

The one caution with 2 to go ruined a nice slow evening for officials. Not sure what the idea was there Jakub, poor Matt was always going to be there.

It all went downhill after that. Obviously had to pit for fuel.
Should have refuelled for a full 2nd race, not just 2 GWC's.
So two pitstops for fuel in race 2, and I got stuck in the middle of two incidents when Kelvin tried to knocked down the T1 outside wall.

@Toni, I just gave up on passing you after you put me into the outside wall on T1 exit (not a compliment).

it was a bit obvious that so many wrecks looked the same at the end :D.

  • One of the best races since I've been in VO although the result was not good, after seeing me win a p6 does not leave a good taste in my mouth.
When I saw the flag come out I never thought it would be Jackub, things happen. I'm not upset or anything like that “it's racing”.

On the other hand, I made the bet to change only two tires and carry the minimum fuel, I went out with Jonas with whom I had a lot of fun, I do not know how many laps it must have been but we did not give an inch of ground. I take my hat off! and the pit line has no comment Jonas xD

    Congratulations Daniel!!!

  • 7 years ago I got my first "good" q AND race result at pocono. (and a late lost place against a RSM driver :))
This year the same with qualy p5. Race was quiet good. Only "bad" thing was the one time were i got to the inside and instantly lost ~10 position but ok. happens
First green stop nearly ended my race as i downshifted into 1st...
Second stop was some kind of undercut atempt which worked really well.
Was on my way to get a nice p9 out of the race. And then the g/w/c happend, two tire was the right choice for me. Fuel wise i had ~0,3 gallons left at checkered flag.
I could be mad to loose the win, but it was my own fault to hit the apron in turn 2(can't remember that i did it before. i was good at missing the apex :D)

Green flag racing is so much more fun!

:top:

  • First of all, I would like to apologize to Matt for the contact in the closing laps of the race. Very unfortunate situation. I saw you on the top on the corner entry and then I lost sight of you, because my view was obscured by two battling cars in front of me. I wasn't expecting you there at all and when I saw you again, I didn't have a chance to react. I know you tried to stay as close to the wall as possible to get us to let you go. Also apologize to Carsten and Erik, who got some nose damage after this mess.

    Carletto7777 I don't know why it's a surprise. Everyone makes mistakes. :smilewink:

  • Its no problem Jakub. It was a bad spot for everyone to catch me at once. I tried to stay out of the way and hold my line. Was just a bit scared of hitting the wall and wrecking everyone, so was a tiny bit too low also.

As a 2.1k driver in nearly 4k fields, i am just trying to learn and improve as best i can… so its something i will try to improve too.

    See you on track again!
